TUCKER PASSED AWAY ---------------------------- Just after noon Sunday the spirit of Mr. A. E. TUCKER departed the body, after a prolonged illness, and wended its way to the Father above, there to give account of the deeds done upon earth. Mr. TUCKER was a well known and useful citizen, having been a resident of Roanoke for a great number of years, and was a man held in high esteem by a host of friends. He possessed many praiseworthy attributes and these will be remembered longest by those who lived closest to him. Mr. TUCKER was a member of long standing of the Baptist church and was sixty-one years old at the time of his demise. The funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist church by the pastor, Rev. J. W. RUCKER, assisted by Rev. A. S. BRANNAN, Monday morning at eleven o’clock. A large crowd of friends and relatives faced a steady downpour of rain and came out to pay a last tribute of respect to this aged citizen. Besides his wife, he left several grown children to mourn his death: John M. and Leo TUCKER, of this city; Dan B. TUCKER, of Youngstown, Ohio; Mrs. Jack FRANKLIN, Mrs. Victor FATUROS and Mrs. Charles [N.] BRISKEY, of this city; [and] Mrs. Will PEARSON, of Milltown [Chambers County]. ---------------------------- CARD OF THANKS ---------------------------- We wish, in this manner, to express our thanks to those who so kindly ministered to the wants of our husband and father during his last illness and to us after his death. We wish especially to convey our thanks to Drs. [John W.] HOOPER and FORD and to the order of Woodmen, who were exceedingly kind. To many friends and neighbors also we are deeply grateful, and to all those who were so thoughtful as to send floral offerings. We pray Heaven’s blessing upon each of you. Mrs. A. E.
