J. GREEN [2 Oct 1837--19 Aug 1919] entered the portals of Glory, following a long period of declining health. The deceased was nearly 82 years of age and was one of the county’s best citizens. He attached himself to the Baptist church in August, 1866, and for many years was a deacon and leading member. He left an aged wife [Mary Ann GREEN, 11 Mar 1843--20 Feb 1920], nine children, a large number of grand-children and several great-grand-children. Revs. W. P. CUMBEE and H. R. MOORE conducted the funeral services at Big Springs church, Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a large congregation. The burial was conducted by the Masons.
