The Atlanta Constitution
A nine-month-old boy was killed and seven persons were injured Saturday night 
whtn a tornado slammed into a rural community near this east Alabama city, 
flattening two houses and two mobile homes. The twister touched down in the 
Potash Ridge community, located between Wedowee and Roanoke near the Georgia 
border. "Stuff is strewn over the countryside pretty good," said Randolph County 
Deputy Sheriff Curtis Morrow. The baby, Barlett Baldwin, was in one of the 
demolished houses. Two of the injured persons were taken to a hospital in 
Birmingham, 100 miles away, the Red Cross said. The other five injured persons 
were taken to area hospitals.
