OBITUARIES:

Charlie B. Benefield

   (ROANOKE) Charlie B. Benefield, age 72, of 105 Striplin St., Roanoke, died 
Monday, Feb. 2, 1987, at Clay County Hospital, Ashland, after an extended 
illness.
   Mr. Benefield was a native of Randolph County, a retired textile employee of 
Roanoke Mills, and a Church of God member.
   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clemintine Benefield of Roanoke; four 
daughters, Miss Alice Benefield, Mrs. Mary Moore, Mrs. Lorene Minix, and Miss 
Catherine Benefield, all of Roanoke; two sons, Earl Benefield of Decatur, Ala., 
and David Benefield of Roanoke; and 13 grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.
   Funeral services for Mr. Benefield will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 
4, at Friendship Christian Church, the Rev. Arnold Ashley and the Rev. Gary 
Baugh officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
   Pallbearers will be Robert Benefield, Jerry Benefield, James Benefield, 
Keith Minix, Gregg Lipham; Roy Doug Benefield, and Winston Benefield.
   Mr. Benefield will lie in state until an hour prior to funeral services and 
then will lie in state at the church.
   Benefield Brown-Service Approved Funeral Home of Wedowee is in charge of 
arrangements.
