Benefield, 55, of Lanett, who died Friday, June 26. The Reverend Robert Bugg, of Wedowee, officiated. Mr. Benefield was born in Cherokee county. He was a member of the Lanett Baptist church. The survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula DeLoach Benefield, nine children and 12 grandchildren. Johnson and Blakely were in charge of arrangements. Lafayette Sun: Thomas E. Benefield, age 55, of Lanett, died from self-inflicted shot gun wounds at 8:30 A. M. last Friday morning. Mr. Benefield was in apparent good health, but according to reports had threatened to take his life on several occasions. He was in Wellington Park near the new swimming pool when he placed the muzzle of the gun near his head and pulled the trigger with a stick. Funeral services were conducted from the Midway Church near Wedowee, Alabama, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 P. M. with the Rev. Bugg conducting. Interment was in the churchyard cemetery with Johnson & Blakely in charge. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Eula DeLoach Benefield, nine children and 12 grandchildren. A., Cecil, Lovvorn, all of Lanett, and Hoyt Benefield, Wedowee; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Pollard, Wedowee; Mrs. G. R. Fuller, Mrs. Walter Kicinski, and Mrs. James Carter, all of Lanett; four brothers, Rowell, Cullman, Ala.; William, Atlanta; James, Abernathy, Texas; and Lawson Benefield, Wedowee; one sister, Mrs. Rhodie Thompson, Texas; and a half-sister, Mrs. Claude Benefield, near Roanoke.....
