Services for Mrs. Bertie Haynes Boyd, 86, of Wedowee, Rt. 1, will be today at 2 
p.m. at New Home United Methodist Church with Ms. Winnie Murphree and the Rev. 
Drexler Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with 
Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. Mrs. Boyd died Friday at her 
residence. Survivors include her husband, J. Hoyt Boyd of Wedowee; three 
daughters, Mrs. Bernice Birdsong of Montevallo, Mrs. Doris Handley of Roanoke 
and Mrs. Doris and Mrs. Betty Craft of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Brenford Boyd of 
Wedowee; two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Caver of Wedowee and Mrs. Ellie L. Crews of 
Texas; seven grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ben 
Handley in, Jimmy Birdsong, Donald Boyd, Watson Haynes, Ray Lindley and Emmet 
White. Mrs. Boyd was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County, a 
homemaker, and a member of New Home United Methodist Church.
