Brooks (LINEVILLE) Mrs. Lera M. Brooks, age 82, of Rt. 2 Lineville, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 1985 at Lineville Geriatric Center after an extended illness. Mrs. Brooks was a native of Randolph County but had lived for the past 65 years in Clay County. She was a housewife and a member of Barfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Brooks is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Lucille Parker and Mrs. Mavis Morris of Lineville, Mrs. Avis Brown of Anniston, Mrs. Rudene Luker of Delta, Mrs. Betty Ashley of Atlanta, Mrs. Merle Young of Ashland and Mrs. Wilma Newsome of Meridian; three sons, Arnold Brooks of Bynum, Baron Brooks of Anniston, and Gerald Brooks of Lineville; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Newell of Chattanooga, Mrs. Lula Underwood of Henagar, and Mrs. Mozell Long of Florida; 31 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Barfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Wood and the Rev. Dee Hurst officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons.
