Anniston Star
John Thomas Brooks, 64, of Lineville, Rt. 1, died Tuesday at Clay County 
Hospital after a long illness. Services were scheduled for today at 2 p.m. at 
Wesley Chapel Christian Church with Elder B. B. Findley and the Rev. Gordon 
Taylor officiating. Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Blair Brown-
Service Mortuary in charge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Polly M. Brooks; a 
daughter Miss Beverly Brooks of Lineville; three sons, Jimmy Brooks, Benny Ray 
Brooks, and John Thomas Brooks Jr.; a sister, Mrs. Gernevia McLead; a brother, 
William Knoxs Brooks; a half-brother, Oliver Brooks, all of Lineville, and five 
grandchildren. Masonic graveside services were to be conducted. Pallbearers were 
to be Bowie Phillips, Homer Halmark, Roy Sheppard, Freddie Phillips, Donnie 
Shepard and Vodie Bradford.
