Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Mrs. J. W. Burgess, 70, Rt; 2, 
Roanoke, at the Rock Mills Melodist Church. Burial followed in the Rock Mills 
cemetery, the Revs. Edwin Price and E. G. Clark officiated. Mrs. Burgess is 
survived by her husband; J.W. Burgess, three sons, Leon and Talmer of Rt. 2. 
Roanoke and Ernest of West Palm Beach, Fla; three daughter, Mrs. Myrtice Norred 
and Miss Veola Burgess of Rt. 2, Roanoke, and Mrs. Claudie Hardy of Alexander 
City; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Burgess died at the Randolph County Hospital 
Wednesday night.
