A 24-year-old Opelika resident died Monday afternoon at his home as the result of 
an self-inflicted gunshot wound according to Gene Ward Lee County Coroner 
According to Opelika police Ronald G. Burnette 310 25th St was found at his home 
about 5:10 pm Monday. He died as a result of a 12-gauge shotgun wound police 
said- Funeral will be at 11 am today at Pepperell Baptist Church with the Rev 
James Kingry officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery in Randolph County 
Ala. Survivors include his widow Mrs. Sandra Burnette Opelika two sons Richard 
and Grady Burnette both of Opelika, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Shepard 
Opelika, two sisters Miss Donna Sue Burnette Opelika and Mrs. Linda Clark 
Montgomery and his grandfather Grady Sexton Wadley.
