H. CALDWELL C. H. Caldwell, 67, affectionately known as "Doc," died suddenly at his home on Broughton Ridge Saturday morning [Nov 27, 1942] , being found dead in his bed at 12:30. He had appeared in his usual good health on Friday and had helped with hog killing. He was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. C. G. Marshall. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Christian Church on West Point Street by the Rev. Belt White. Interment was in the city cemetery, Quattlebaum directing. Surviving are the widow; five sons: C. H., Jr., of Columbus, GA, W. H., of Jasper, R. A., of Atlanta, J. W., of Johnson City, TN, and Sgt. J. T. Caldwell, of Camp Shelby, Miss.; three daughters: Mrs. C. G. Marshall, of Wadley, Mrs. L. T. Hatcher, of Birmingham, and Mrs. T. E. Padgett, of College Park, GA; fourteen grandchildren, one brother, and one sister. In addition to the children and their families, others from out of town who came here to the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Graves, of East Point, GA, and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Padgett, of College Park, GA. The Caldwells lived in Roanoke for a number of years, and their many friends here sympathize with them in their sorrow. __________ Additional Comments: [Charles Hopson, born July 8, 1875, is the son of Matthew C.
