Poinsettia, Lakeland, Fla., died Tuesday night, Sept. 14, at his residence. A native of Roanoke and former resident of Atlanta, he had been a resident of Lakeland since 1949. Mr. Caldwell was superintendent of mine service of Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, with his office in Mulberry, Fla. He had been associated with the Atlantic Coast Line for 42 years. He was a member and former chairman of the board of trustees of the First Christian Church of Lakeland. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Mulberry, past president of Polk County Traffic Club, and a member of Polk County Development Board, Associated Traffic Clubs, Traffice Club of Tampa, Atlantic Coast Line Employees Service Club, Young Men's Christian Association, Lakeland Yatch and Country Club, and National Defense Transportation Association. Mr. Caldwell was a veteran of World War II, serving as a major in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 72 of Mulberry and a member of Palestine Lodge No. 486 F. & A. M., Atlanta. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Olivia Long Caldwell of Lakeland; a daughter, Mrs. Olivia Caldwell Lawhon of Mulberry; a son, Robert A. Caldwell, Jr. of Aiken, S.C.; three sisters, Mrs. L. T. Hatcher of Birmingham, Mrs. T. E. Padgett of College Park, Ga., and Mrs. C. G. Marshall of Wadley; four brothers, J. W. Caldwell of Roanoke, W. H. Caldwell of Jasper, J. T. Caldwell of Macon, and C. H. Caldwell of Phenix City; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, September 17, at 2:00 o'clock at the B.
