Roanoke Leader
A Wadley Negro, Frank Carlisle, 23, was killed in a traffic accident Tuesday. His 
colored companion, Will Kellum, of Wadley, suffered a broken leg in the same 
accident. According to the Opelika District of the State Highway Patrol, the 
accident occurred 14 miles north of LaFayette. Patrolman Bob Slay, who 
investigated, stated that the car in which Carlisle and Kellum were riding ran 
into the parked truck. Driver of the car was William Amos Cotney, white, of 
Wadley, who was uninjured, the patrolman reported, and the truck was being 
operated by Okey Evans, of Malone, also uninjured.
