Durward L. Chase 70 Gabbettville died Thursday in LaGrange Funeral will be 4 pm 
EST today at Oak Grove Church of Christ Randolph County Ala with burial in the 
church cemetery according to Maddox Funeral Home Mr. Chase was born Jan 8, 1902, 
in Randolph County, Ala. A son of the late Walter King and Cora Alice Tennent 
Chase He had lived here 13 years and was owner-operator of Chase Grocery Store 
He had served as a deputy sheriff in Randolph County and was on the Wedowee 
police force Survivors include his wife Mrs. Rosie Strain Chase Gabbettville a 
daughter Mrs. Earl Kirby LaGrange a son Randall Chase Nashville Tenn two sisters 
Mrs. Bernice Cooper Cincinnati Ohio and Mrs. Idel Lyons Stone Mountain four 
brothers Lawton and Charlie Chase both of LaGrange, Carl Chase Shawmut Ala and 
Irwin Chase Petros Tenn., and five grandchildren.
