Raonoke Leader
About seven o'clock last Wednesday evening Junior Chewning, colored, aged 26 
years, was shot and almost instantly killed shortly after entering the store of 
Hubert Hutchinson, also colored, aged 30, located in the Negro settlement on the 
eastern side of town. The latter is charged with the slaying and was taken to 
Wedowee jail that night. He was released a day or so later under bond to await 
the action of the grand jury.
