Lineville Headlight
On August 6th, 1916, Mrs. Mary Cofield, aged 81 years, 5 months and 7 days, was 
called to that better and more perfect home. She left this world peacefully and 
quietly and the life she lived while traveling through this vale of sorrow is 
evidence that she is at rest with the redeemed of all the ages. She joined the 
Methodist church when a child and as the years went by, she became stronger and 
more consecrated in faith. She married Rev. L. E. Cofield about 1848 and was a 
kind, devoted and loving companion until his death. They were blessed with a 
large family 15 children, 8 boys and 7 girls. She lived to see them all married 
and establish homes for themselves. Her journey here on earth was not all on 
flowery beds of ease; she had ups and downs and disappointments, but she bore 
her toils and cares with the patience and tenderness of a Christian. In her 
declining years afflictions helped upon her, in sometimes scented unbearable, 
yet she kept in good spirits, being always submissive to God's will her children 
have lost their best earthly friend, her church and community a devout Christian 
and good neighbor. The caved family has our deepest heartfelt sympathy, and we
