Roanoke Leader
William Marshall Cofield passed away at Wedowee Hospital at 10:45 Sunday 
morning, Feb. 23. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Cofield is survived by his wife; 
four sons, Marshall Cofield of Bear Creek, Garrett Cofield of Pepperell, Golden 
Cofield of Dadeville, and Tommy Cofield of Malone Rt. 1; eight daughters Mrs. 
Daisy Lipham of Oxford. Mrs. W. I. Mote of Woodland. Mrs. Charlie Whaley and 
Mrs. M. F. Huddleston of Wedowee, Mrs. R. C. Nelson of Temple, Okla., Mrs. 
George Langley and Mrs. Orion Cash of Wadley, and Mrs. Herbert Gray of Fairfax; 
57 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Houston and Luther 
Cofield of LaGrange, Jim Cofield of Woodland, and Ben Cofield of Roanoke; and 
two sisters, Mrs. Laura Gosdin of Woodland and Mrs. Katie Simpson of Newell. 
Funeral services for Mr. Cofield were conducted at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon 
from the Bethel West Church, Swagg, with interment in the church cemetery. 
Quattlebaum's Funeral Home directed.
