He was a native of Randolph County and veteran of World War II. He retired from ort McCallan Army Depot was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church and former member of Sawyer Lodge No 93 & AM and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VW) Survivors include three daughters Glenda Reaves, Era Bowden both of Phenix City and Brenda Holmes of Opelika six sons Glenn Conger of Columbus Dwight Conger of Woodland, Kenneth Conger, Gary Conger, Larry Conger all of Wedowee and Bill Conger of White Plains three sisters Lottie Murphy of Wedowee Hixie Lovvorn of Anniston and Eula Mae Dameron of Okeechobee and 16 grandchildren.
