Miss Cotney was a native of Tallapoosa County but had lived most of her life in Wadley. She was retired state supervisor of home economics, State Department of Education, and a member of Wadley Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Staley Hunt of Albany, Ga., and Mrs. Annie Lou Cotton of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; one brother, E.K. Cotney of Anniston; and a host of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Jim Cleveland of Wadley; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. W.A. Cotney of Wadley. Funeral services for Miss Cotney were held at ten o'clock Friday morning, Nov. 19, at the Wadley Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ted Embry and the Rev. Albert Satcher officiating. Burial was in Wadley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim W. Cleveland III, William A. Cleveland, John C. Cleveland, Wyner Phillips, Bob Bailey, and Ray Gay. Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
