A. Cotney, well known Wadley businessman, died suddenly at his office on Friday, October 7 as a result of a heart attack. He was 59 years of age and had been a resident of Wadley for the past 41 years. Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. from Wadley Baptist Church with Rev. J. R. Van Cleve and Rev. J. E. Corley officiating. Interment was in Wadley cemetery with Johnson & Sanders Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Cotney was a member of Wadley Baptist Church and the Kiwanis Club of Wadley. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Fuller Cotney; two daughters, Mrs. Robert P. Kloeti, Richmond, Va.; Mrs. Jim Cleveland, Wadley; one brother, E. K. Cotney, Anniston; seven sisters, Miss Evelyn Cotney, Montevallo; Mrs. Ella Cotney Fuller, Wadley; Mrs. James Meigs, Daviston; Mrs. J. R. Pitts, Tifton, Ga.; Mrs. Annie L. Cotton, Alexander City; Mrs. Claudie Hamlett, Wadley; Mrs. Staley Hunt, Albany, Ga. Six grandchildren also survivors. Pallbearers were Brannon Hardy, Jack Gay, Dwight Hall, Hugh Radney, Joe Screws, Jim Hardy.
