Howard Dean Craft. 36, son of the Rev. and Mrs. David M. Craft of Wedowee, died Oct. 10 in Korea of gunshot wounds suffered when a Korean house boy accidentally discharged a pistol belonging to the sergeant A message from the War Department to members of the family informed relatives of the accidental death. A later letter from the secretary of war explained circumstances under which the sergeant was killed. The night before the accident he had written a letter to his wife, the former Willetta Waddell of Anniston, that he expected to be home soon. Sergeant Craft was a native of Wedowee but lived in Anniston for several years before his re-entry into the Army March 30. 1948. A veteran of World War II. Sergeant Craft served In the Pacific theatre of operations. He is survived by his parents; his wife, who resides in Wedowee; one sister, Mrs. O'Neal New of Anniston; one son, Tim Howell Craft; and four brothers.
