She was born March 14, 1888, and joined the M. E. church, South, at the age of thirteen, and remained a member until her death. In the spring of 1912 [sic - 1902] she was married to Mr. J. O. PINKARD. Her husband and six small children survive her. A short time before she passed away she spoke with unusual freedom and hope of a future happy life, and even sang some favorite religious songs. She was a good neighbor, a loving wife, and a devoted mother. In the presence of a large crowd at Lane’s Chapel the funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. J. LAYTON, assisted by Rev. E. M. BARNES. E. C. CUNNINGHAM [Correspondent] [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 24 March 1915, p.1] ---------------------------- A CARD OF THANKS ---------------------------- Words fail to fully express the gratitude of a burdened heart for the generous attention given my dear wife by the doctors, friends, neighbors and relatives during the closing days of her life. Every thorn that loving hands could pluck from her dying pillow were removed. In the meantime the numerous favors bestowed upon me and my little children further increase “the debt of love I owe.” Yours in sorrow but in hope. J. O. PINKARD [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 24 March 1915, p.8] ---------- Carrie MOORE PINKARD, 14 March 1887—18 March 1915 [year of birth differs from obit], James Oscar PINKARD, 22 March 1880—8 July 1945, her husband, Anderson Layton PINKARD, 14 February 1915—8 September 1915, her son, All interred together in Lane’s Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Carrie PINKARD possibly died due to complications resulting from the birth of her son, Anderson Layton PINKARD, a month earlier. Other PINKARDs listed on the Lane’s Chapel Cemetery transcript who could possibly be children of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. PINKARD include: Porter C. PINKARD, 28 October 1913—?, Bessie PINKARD TAYLOR, 16 April 1909—31 January 1943, The year of marriage is corrected to 1902 in the Roanoke Leader, 31 March 1915, p.3. It would have been unusual to have "six small children" in 1915 if she had married in 1912.
