ROBERTS, an elderly and respected lady, died Monday night [14 June 1915] at her home on Belcher Street. The remains will be interred at Lane’s Chapel at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 16 June 1915, p.1] ---------- Catherine BROWN ROBERTS, 27 March 1847—17 Jun 1915, Thomas J. ROBERTS, 19 September 1848—15 September 1926, her husband, Thomas Carl ROBERTS, 24 September 1888—23 September 1922, her son, All interred together at Lane’s Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, Randolph County, Alabama. There is a conflict between the article date of death and her tombstone date. Given that the notice was published on 16 June 1915, the same day as the burial, it appears that the tombstone date is in error. Lowell was the mill village of the Handley Manufacturing Company that was later annexed into Roanoke.
