J.W. Davis Rites Held Mr. J.W. Davis, husband of Mrs. J.W. Davis of Ackerman died Tuesday morning, September 29, 1964, at the Choctaw County Hospital. He died at the age of 75. He was born July 9, 1889 at Randolph Co. Ala. He leaves his wife Mrs. J.W. Davis of Ackerman. Daughters, Mrs. Gladys Spake of Breman, Ga.; & Mrs. Hope Gilmer of Thomas, Ga. Sons, Durell Davis of Carrolton, Ga; Jimmy Gale Davis of Ackerman; 3 stepsons, Bobby Bishop of Ackerman; Edward Lee Bishop of Atlanta, Ga.; Rodger Bishop of Marriette, Ga. Sisters, Mrs. Jim Norton of Bremer, Ga. and Mrs. Luke Norton of LaGrange, Ga. Brothers, S.C. Davis of Roanoke, Ala. Other relatives 12 grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Burial was in Enon cemetery, Thursday at 10:00 A.M. Ministers preaching funeral were Rev. Bill Fox, Rev. Jack Tackett and Gerald Blanton. Adams Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge. Additional Comments: J.W. Davis name was James "Jim" W. Davis. His mother was Ollie Bell Waller Davis and Ollie W. Davis is buried in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Randolph county, Alabama. J.W. Davis' first wife was Francis V. Prestridge who is buried in Bremen City Cemetery, Bremen, Haralson County, Georgia; Section G. J.W. Davis' second wife was Allie E. Davis. Both J.W. (James W.) Davis and Allie E. Davis are buried in Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery Ackerman, Choctaw County, Mississippi. J.W. Davis' brother that is mentioned in the obit is Stephen Calvin Davis who is buried also in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Randolph county, Alabama.
