Mr. Davis, who was a chemical engineer at Republic Steel Corpo ration's Gadsden plant, was killed about 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon in an accident at the plant, the family reported. A faulty fire escape fell and struck him as he walked beneath it. A 195S graduate of API, Auburn, he had been employed by Republic since finishing college. The body was taken to the home of his parents at Newell prior to the services. The funeral rites were conducted by the Revs. Frank Reaves and Dempsey Noles. Burial was in the adjacent cemetery, Collier-Butler Funeral Home in charge. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse B. Davis; one sister, Mrs. James C. Hendrick, of Anniston; and a brother, John William Davis, of Huntsville. Active pallbearers were members of the Young People's Sunday School Class at Union Church, to which he belonged. Honorary pallbearers were fellow employes in the Republic engineering department.
