Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. Mrs. Dempsey died Monday at Clay County Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Alvin Dempsey of Heflin; five daughters, Mrs. Sara Huddleston, Mrs. Charlene Owens and Ms. Renae Dempsey, all of Heflin, Mrs. Connie Bain of the Netherlands; and Mrs. Becky Armstong of Talladega; a son, Rev. Stephen Dempsey of Heflin; a sister, Mrs. Wanda F. Hardin of Anniston; two brothers, Lavelle Folsom of Anniston and Lee Folsom of Heflin; 13 grandchildren; and" a great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Harrell Coley, Tony Coley, Tommy Honea, Thomas Honea II, Dick Kytan and Leman Smith. Honorary pallbearers were former Baptist deacons. ' A Calhoun County native, Mrs. Dempsey had lived in Randolph County for the past 25 years. She was a nurse's aide, a homemaker and a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.
