Roanoke Leader
Mrs. Cora Lee Duffy of Newell passed away, at 1:45 p. m. on Dec. 14 after a four 
day stay in a Roanoke hospital. She was 52 years of age. Survivors include her 
husband, V. L. Duffy; two sons, Johnny Duffy of Roanoke and Harold Duffy of 
Newell; four daughters, Mrs. Paul Cantrell of Roanoke Rt. 3, Mrs. Esco Wilder of 
Anniston, and Mrs. Leon Payne and Mrs. Betty Barth of Newell; her father, John 
Nix of Newell; two brothers, Henry Nix and Bryant Nix of Roanoke; four sisters, 
Mrs. Ida Haynes of Live Oak, Fla., Miss Ethel Nix of Alabama City, Mrs. Pearl 
Higgins of Anniston, and Mrs. Retha Bradley of Birmingham; and eight 
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon, Dec. 16, 
at 2:00 o'clock from the Levins Church, with Rev. Paul McClain and Rev. J.E. 
Dailey pastor officiating. Interment will be in church, with Quattlebaum's 
Funeral Home in charge.
