This file was transcribed by: William Fischer, Jr. ============================================= December 2001 Mrs. BIRDSONG Buried in Cemetery Here ---------------------------- On last Wednesday, Jan. 25, Mrs. Dora SEXTON BIRDSONG, who passed away at the home of her daughter in Birmingham, was buried in the city cemetary [sic] here following the funeral at the Methodist Church. Mrs. BIRDSONG, 74, had made her home in Roanoke for many years. Following the death of her first husband, Mr. John [Anderson] RADNEY, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom RADNEY, the prominent RADNEY family of this section, she was married to Mr. Charlie BIRDSONG of Roanoke. Since his death she has made her home with her children. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. N. T. LANDERS of Birmingham, Mrs. H. M. SPIVEY of Roanoke, and Mrs. Ira WARREN of Ashville [St. Clair Co., AL]; one son, J. T. RADNEY, Birmingham, one step-daughter, Mrs. Lois FAILO of Greenville [Butler Co., AL]; one brother, Miley SEXTON of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Mary HODGE of Cleburne, Texas, and many friends. The Rev. Charles T. FERRELL of the First Methodist Church, Roanoke, and the Rev. E. F. DANIEL of the Handley Ave. Baptist Church, conducted the funeral services, with Brown Funeral Home, Birmingham, directing. The very large crowd from Roanoke, where she was better known, and friends from Birmingham, Panama City, Fla., Detroit and this section, and the beautiful floral displays attested the esteem in which this family is held.
