East was circulated. He died at eight o'clock last Wednesday evening, January 8th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alonzo Lindsey, and her husband, in Roanoke. Funeral and interment were at the old home church, High Pine, Thursday afternoon, Revs. W. E. Lockler and H. H. Ellis conducting the services. Mr. East was about fifty years of age, the son of Mr. W. P. East, of this city. Besides the father and several brothers and sisters, deceased is survived by his widow, who was working in Cedertown, Ga., at the time of the death of her husband, and by two daughters, Mrs. Lindsey, this city, and Mrs. Culberson, of Columbus, Ga. Mr. East carried the mail from Roanoke to Wedowee for several years and was on duty at the time the highway was being built, when it was almost impossible at times to make the trip. His faithfulness and accommodating spirit won for him the commendation of the public.
