Mrs. Henry Gay

Mrs. Frances Ellen Gay, 50, passed away suddenly at the residence in LaGrange 
at 4:15 Friday morning, October 18 (tombstone says 19th). 

She is survived by her husband, Henry Gay, of LaGrange; three daughters: Mrs. 
Eva Williams, of LaGrange, Mrs. Bela Langford, of Chester, Pa., and Eudell, of 
LaGrange, and Lemmie and Earl of Hogansville: four sisters: Mrs. Willie Gay, 
of Rt. 3, Roanoke, Mrs. Carrie Burks, of Rt. 2, Roanoke, Mrs. Mittie Manley, 
of Roanoke, and Mrs. Sarah Shelnutt, of LaGrange; five brothers: Jesse Veal, 
of LaGrange, John Veal, of Roanoke, T.W. Veal, of LaGrange, Bobbie Veal, of 
Roanoke, and O.T. Veal, of Roanoke; nine grandchildren and several other near 
relatives.

Funeral services were held from the Springfield Baptist Church at 2 p.m. 
Sunday, Oct. 20, the Rev. Charlie Heard and the Rev. J.O. Gay officiating. 
Interment was in Springfield Cemetery, Roanoke Funeral Home directing.

Frances Ellen Veal was born on 24 December 1885 in Randolph county, Alabama 
and died 19 October 1946. Frances Ellen Veal married Harvey Jasper Gay on 19 
November 1904. Frances E. Veal and Harvey Jasper Gay are buried in the 
Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Springfield, Randolph county, Alabama.
