Roanoke News: 
A little son of Major Glass was drowned in Wehadkee creek last Sunday, four miles 
below Rock Mills, He was bathing in the creek with other boys when the sad event 
occurred. The body was recovered in about thirty minutes after drowning, but life 
was extinct, and effort to bring back the vital spark were vain.
