Mrs. Essie Kirby Gross, 57. died at 3:20 pm. Thursday at her home in the Swagg 
Community on Wedowee Rt 1. Funeral services will be held from Rocky Branch 
Baptist Church in Randolph County at 2: p.m. Saturday, with the Revs. Arvin 
Dempsey and L. S. Turner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 
Survivors include her husband. Ellison Gross of Wedowee, Rt. 1; five sons, 
Blakeley and Sam Gross of Wedowee. Rt. 1, Joe Gross of Wedowee, Rt. 2, Jack 
Gross of Wedowee, and Bob Gross of Roanoke; two daughters Mrs. Sollie Sikes of 
Grandy. Mass. Mrs. Nancy Taylor of Carrolton Ga., two brothers. Charlie Kirby of 
Wedowee, Rt. 2, and Ross Kirby of Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. Homer Beverly of 
Talladega, Mrs. Eula Camp of Columbus, Ga. Mrs. Dura Stevens of Monroeville, and 
Mrs. Lula Maude Earnest of Columbus; and nine granddaughters, children. Mrs. 
Gross a member of Bethel West Baptist Church, was a member of the Swagg Home 
Demonstration Club.
