Hand, 72, of Heflin, Rt. 1, died Monday at Jacksonville Nursing Home after a long illness. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Randolph County with the Rev. J. D. Bearden officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. Survivors include four sons, Bevis Hand of Conyers, Ga., W. B. Hand of Carrollton, Ga., John M. Hand of Decatur, Ga., and Hollis W. Hand of Carrollton, Ga., two daughters, Mrs. Betty Simmons of Douglasville, Ga., and Mrs. Dorothy Stewart of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Elder of Heflin, Mrs. A. T. Mitchell of Montgomery and Mrs. E. K. Haug of New Jersey; 21 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Hand was a lifelong resident of Cleburne County and a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. He was a farmer. The body will remain at the funeral home until the time of services.
