Randolph County has counted another traffic fatality for the year. Four-year-old 
Danny Roger Holloway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Holloway of Wedowee Rt. 1, 
received fatal injuries Thursday afternoon, August 13, when he darted in front 
of a pickup truck near his home, the Highway Patrol reported. The youngster was 
walking along a county road 2.3 miles west of Wedowee and was holding an older 
brothers hand, but suddenly jerked loose and ran into the path of the truck, it 
was reported. The boy died in the hospital shortly afterward. The patrol 
identified the driver of the truck as H. O. Whaley of Wedowee Rt. 1, age 60. 
Danny is survived by his parents and two brothers, Barrett and Michael Holloway, 
of Wedowee Rt. 1; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Holloway, and his 
maternal grandmother, Mrs. Eva Hadley, both of Wedowee Rt. 1. Funeral services 
were conducted Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from Mt. Pleasant Church near 
Wedowee. Interment was in the church cemetery, Quattlebaum's Funeral Home 
directing.

Anniston Star:
Five-year-old Danny Roger Holloway of Wedowee was killed when he darted in front 
of a pickup truck near his home late Thursday, the Highway Patrol reported. The 
child was hit by a vehicle driven by Harm Ollie Whaley, 60, of near Wedowee, the 
Patrol said. The youngster was walking along a county road 2.3 miles west of 
Wedowee about 6 p.m. and was holding an older brother's hand when he suddenly 
jerked loose and ran into the path of the truck, it was reported.
