ALGenWeb Archives File Manager Carolyn Golowka, -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Submitted by William Fischer, Jr., February 2001 Mr. [Henry W.] VINSON's death [on 14 Feb 1912 near Roanoke] followed a long illness and was not unexpected. He served four years in the Confederate army and his health was so impaired that he was never a strong man afterwards. Yet he labored industriously, paid his debts and raised a large family of children, who are all good citizens. Mr. VINSON was a member of the Baptist church at Bacon Level from before the Civil War to the time of his death. He was a quiet man, and his virtues were best known and appreciated in the home circle. In the presence of a large company of friends and relatives, many of whom came from a distance, the funeral services were conducted from the home at 3 o'clock Thursday [15 Feb 1912] afternoon, by Rev. C. J. BURDEN, of LaFayette, assisted by Revs. W. P. COFIELD and F. H. FARRINGTON. Interment was in the cemetery at this place. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 21 Feb 1912, p.1] [Henry Vinson is believed buried in the unmarked grave next to those of his family in the Fellowship Baptist Church cemetery at Bacon Level, Randolph county.
