A Randolph County native, Mrs. Waldrep was born March 24, 1911, daughter of George W. and Susan E. Whaley Waldrep. Mr. Butler died Monday, Jan. 3, at University Hospital-Birmingham following a two-year bout with leukemia. Survivors include his mother, Doris Butler of Roanoke; three sisters, Glenda Rogers of Woodland and Cathy Windsor and Lisa Taylor of Roanoke; one brother, Jimmy Butler of Roopville, Ga.; his fiance, Rhonda Smith of LaGrange; and seven nieces and nephews. A Randolph County native, Mr. Butler was born July 27, 1963, son of James Fred and Doris McKee Butler. Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke. __________ Lala Edge Allen (UNION HILL) Lala Edge Allen, 96, of Union Hill died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at LaFayette Extended Care Facility. Services will be at Pleasant Grove Christian Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Barry Brooks and the Rev. Floyd Carmack will officiate. Mrs. Allen is survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mrs. Allen was born in Chambers County April 28, 1908. She graduated from Auburn University in 1950 and taught in the Chambers County school system for 45 years. She was the founder of the Allen Retreat Center in Penton and was induct­ed into the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, past president of the Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Inter Se Women's Federation in Wadley. She helped establish P.A.L.S. in Chambers County. She was a member of the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Union Hill Community Club, Union Hill Fire Department, and Pleasant Grove Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Emory Allen. Wilma Stewart Nelson, 78, of LaGrange, Ga., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Florence Hand home, after several years of declining health. Mrs. Nelson was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Randolph County, Ala., daughter of the late James Vinson and Clyde Hinton Stewart. Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker and a member of Teaver Road Baptist Church and a former member of Hillside Congregational Christian Church, where she was very active. Survivors include two daughters, Jan Reason and Regina Dollar; a son, Randy Nelson; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of LaGrange; two sisters, Vicie Jordan of Roanoke and Jewel Harwell of Birmingham; two brothers, Jack Stewart of Opelika and Winston Stewart of Wedowee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Clegg of Wecomico Church, Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hart was a Wadley native, born Oct. 20, 1912, daugh­ter of Kentchen Marvin and Betty Pauline Thomason Clegg. She was the oldest of seven children with six younger broth­ers. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp during World War II and was Methodist by faith. Harrell Funeral Home, Dublin, Texas. __________ William Winfred Ward (LAGRANGE, Ga.) William Winfred Ward, 81, of LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Ward was born March 4, 1923, in Roanoke, son of John Will and Myrtle Lee Brown Ward. He had lived in the LaGrange area most of his life and served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Ward was retired from Troup County EMC (later known as Diverse Power) with more than 27 years of service and was a member of Union Lodge 28 F&AM. He was a member of East Vernon Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school, served as Sunday school superintendent and served in many other official capacities. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie McDonald; and a brother, Melvin “Corky” Ward. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Para "Tiny" Ward; and nieces Jackie Ward Taylor of LaGrange and Janice McDonald Underwood of Jonesboro, Ga. "Jimmy" Childers, 56, of Cragford, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2005, at the Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Braden Morrison and Wendell McLain officiating. Burial with full military honors was in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Clay County. Mr. Childers died Friday, Jan. 31, 2004, at VA Hospital in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife, Sonja Childers; two daughters, Tina Hannah and Lori Starnes of Franklin, Ga.; a sister, Joyce Andrews of LaGrange, Ga.; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Childers, a Randolph County native, lived in Germany and Washington before returning to Clay County in 1992. He was employed with Wellborn Cabinet Company. He served in the Army for 17 years, including Desert Storm. He was award­ed many decorations and medals for his service, including the Bronze Star. __________ Flossie White (HUGULEY) Flossie White, 96, of Huguley died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. White was a native of Randolph County, born Nov 28, 1908, daughter of the late Bill and Lavora Burson. She was a retired employee of West Point Stevens Shawmut Mill and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Huguley. Surviving are two daughters, Jean Boyington and Gerry Meacham of Huguley; one son, King D. White of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a sister, Novella Cardwell of West Point, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert White. Services will be at Calvary Baptist Church at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 6, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery. Burial was in the Kearbey Chapel Cemetery in Butler County, Mo. Mrs. Kearbey died, Saturday, Jan. 1, at the Rolla Manor Care Center. Survivors include her husband, Jackie O. Kearbey Sr.; a daughter, Olivia Wiggins of Highlandville, Mo.; a son, Jackie O.
