Roanoke Leader
News has been received of the death of Mrs. J. A. Jeffers at the home of her 
daughter, Miss Claribel Jeffers, in McAllen, Texas, at 4:45 p. m. Tuesday 
afternoon, May 7. Funeral services will be conducted for her in Roanoke the 
latter part of the week, the time and place to be announced later. Mrs. Jeffers, 
age 91, was a resident of Roanoke for many years and was a faithful member of the 
First Baptist Church. She was the mother of a large family. One daughter, Mrs. O. 
C. Bartlett, continues to make Roanoke her home. Mrs. Jeffers visited Mrs. 
Bartlett a number of times in recent years while dividing her time among her 
children.
