Services for M L. "Slim" Johnson, 78, of Newell, Rt. 1, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. 
at Union Baptist Church with the Rev: Ray Runyan and the Rev. James Collier 
officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home 
of Wedowee in charge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 
a.m. today and until an hour before services Sunday. The body will be at the 
church an hour before services. Mr. Johnson died Friday at his home after a short 
illness. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Johnson of Newell; a daughter, 
Mrs. Elaine Nobbley of Newell; four sons, Charles Johnson and Douglas Johnson, 
both of Wedowee, Rayford Johnson of Lineville and Barron Johnson of Heflin; two 
brothers, R.S. Johnson of Wedowee and Omie Johnson of LaGrange,
