The young men, each about 21 years of age, were riding rapidly out on Wedowee street, going north, and in rounding the curve they dashed into the rear of a parked automobile in front of the West house. The car belonged to Rev. C. W. Stitt. It was hurled forward a considerable distance and badly damaged. As a result of the impact young Jones was instantly killed, while his companion lived for about thirty minutes. The entire community was shocked by this terrible accident and in every way possible manifested the sympathy felt for the families of the unfortunate young men. Lloyd Jones was the son of Mrs. L. R. Jones and was married. Handley Dunson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Dunson. The funeral of the former was conduct ed at the Baptist church Saturday afternoon. Rev. W. E. Lockler being in charge of the last rites. Mr. Dunson's funeral was conducted by Rev. J. D. Dollar at the First Christian church at 10:30 Saturday morning. Interment in both cases was in the city cemetery.
