Tommy Gene Young officiating. Burial will follow at Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Young died Monday, June 4, at Randolph Medical Center. Survivors include one son, Ralph Young of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Young was born Oct. 7, 1915, daughter of Elbert and Zora Holloway Cummings. She had been employed as a spinner by Handley Mills and a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Young; and two sons, Edgar Young and William Young. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Bozeman died Monday, June 4, at Wedowee Hospital. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home. Mr. Bozeman is survived by two daughters, Sharon Milam of Roanoke and Tonya East of Franklin, Ga.; two sons, Dwayne and Chad Bozeman of Wedowee; one sister, Hazel Puckett of Wedowee; one brother, Wornell Bozeman of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Bozeman was born Aril 28, 1941, son of Dewey and Elila Pool Bozeman. He was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church and a trim make in the door department of Wellborn Cabinets. Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee. __________ Katheryn Aurelia Owensby (ROANOKE) Katheryn Aurelia Owensby of Roanoke died Monday, May 28, 2007, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Mrs. Owensby, a native of Heard County, Ga., was born June 26, 1925, daughter of the late Rev. Joe Mitchell Strickland and Mrs. Clevia Broome Strickland. She was the fourth child of 12. She was employed with Cheaha State Medical Health. Mrs. Owensby was a devoted member of Mount Carrie Baptist Church, where she served as president of the choir and counselor of the Southwestern Union District, where she served for years. In addition, she was counselor of Mount Carrie Baptist Church Matrons. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Brenda Truitt of Carrollton, Ga., and Annie Culberson of Franklin, Ga.; one godchild, Lucille Dallas of LaGrange, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mozell Reid and Mildred Morgan, both of LaGrange; one brother, Hodges Strickland of Atlanta; 13 sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; one daughter-in- law; two sons-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, deacon Charlie W. Owensby; and children, Leonard Lanard, Gloria Lorene, Gladys Corene, Charlie Willis and Annie. Olene Hester, 75, of Franklin, Ga., formerly of LaGrange, Ga., died Saturday June 2, 2007, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Mrs. Hester was born in 1932 in Randolph County, Ala., daughter of the late Jabe and Lillian Knott Woodard. She was retired and was a member of New Community Church and the Edwards Community Group. Mrs. Hester delivered meals on wheels for the Troup County Senior Center. She loved quilting and was an avid reader. Survivors include two daughters, Ronda Steeley of Bartlett, Tenn., and Susan Harris Jr. of Franklin; two sons, Tyre Hester of Snellville, Ga., and Jerry Hester of Monticello, Ga.; brother, Tommy Woodard of LaGrange; sister, Marjorie Franklin of Wedowee; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Thomas Frederick Harlin, 90, a native of Randolph County, Ala., and a resident of Lexington, Ky., since 1960, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007. He was the son of the late Warren P. and Emily Head Harlin. Mr. Harlin was an Auburn University graduate and was in government employ prior to World War II service. After the war, he worked for the Veterans Administration and was later the chief arbitrator for the Federal Mortgage Housing Administration for the south-eastern United States. From 1957-60, he was in the private mortgage business in Florida, and after 1960, comptroller and investment manager at Lexington Theological Seminary until 1987. He was a member of Crestwood Christian Church and a number of civic and service organizations. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Elsie Moses Harlin. He is survived by a son, Philip W. Harlin; two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a sister, Geneva Wofford of Hickory, N.C. Mr. Parmer was born Aug. 17, 1950, in West Point, Ga., son of Ethel Palmer Mitchell and William Pinky Parmer. He resided in Houston, Texas, for 18 years, where he was a self-employed electrician. Mr. Parmer was formerly employed as an electrician for the city of West Point and the city of LaGrange. He was a 1968 graduate of West Point High School and had attended West Georgia College in Carrollton. Survivors in addition to his parents include two brothers, Ralph L. Parmer of Houston and Ray Parmer of Omaha, Ala.; two sisters, Ann Parmer Folds of Mountville and Carol Parmer Morgan of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Larry Wayne Parmer, and two brothers, William Harold Parmer and Aaron Parmer. Loyd Monroe Lipscomb, 69, of Heflin, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Regional Medical Center, Anniston. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Allen Lipscomb of Heflin; two sons, David Lipscomb of Ashland and Harold Lipscomb of Jacksonville; four sisters, Nettie Farrow of Huntsville, Connie Moore of Heflin, Jane Rice of Newell and Peggy Jacks of Oxford; a brother, Donnie Lipscomb of Newell; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gurland and Donna Lipscomb. The Rev. Lipscomb was born in Gadsden, a lifelong resident of Cleburne County and retired from the Cleburne County School System with 22 years of service. He served Cleburne County as probate judge for six years and as a Baptist minister. He was a pastor of churches in Cleburne, Calhoun, Clay and Randolph counties for 30 years. He had been a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Cleburne County since he retired. Mrs. Burney was the first child born to Curley and Rozine Johnson on March 28, 1934, in Roanoke. She was the 1953 valedictorian of Randolph County Training School. Mrs. Burney attended Alabama A&M College in Huntsville and worked as a substitute teacher for six years in Roanoke Public Schools. She was a former member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Roanoke. On July 15, 1956, she was married to Rogers Burney. The family moved to Ypsilanti in 1966, where they joined Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Burney was a devoted and active church member until her health failed. She loved music and served as a member of the senior choir. Mrs. Burney was employed by Eastern Michigan University as an assistant librarian, retiring in 1988. She was an active member of the Eastern Michigan UAW and a longtime member of the EMU Bowling League. Many will have fond memories of her and her little children as she poured out her heart on the piano to the sounds of their sweet voices, a talent which people were still enjoying until the onset of her illness a few weeks ago. Mrs. Prince maintained her membership at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Roanoke, but was also active at the Glenloch Baptist Church in Heard County where her grandson, Neil Awbrey, is pastor. She always used the gifts God gave her where ever she was.
