JENNIE CHADWICK ANSWERS LAST CALL ---------------------------- Death has again invaded our community and this time called to her reward an aged mother and faithful christian [sic] woman – Mrs Jennie CHADWICK. At 2 o’clock Sunday morning [11 Sep 1910] the summons came to her at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John W. RADNEY, where she had been ill for several weeks, receiving the most devoted attention of loved ones and the constant ministrations of physicians and friends. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 3:30 Monday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. L. DOBBS. The interment was in the Roanoke cemetery. Mrs. CHADWICK was born near Greensboro nearly 68 years ago, and spent the greater portion of her life in that town as the wife of Mr. S. W. CHADWICK, a princely gentleman, who died some fifteen years ago. As a young college boy in that place twenty years ago, the writer remembers the many kindnesses shown the students by this admirable couple in their lovely home. No people were more useful in their day and generation and none were held in higher esteem. Both have surely entered upon a happy rest and to the enjoyment of the rewards that await the faithful. No better indication of the life and character of Mrs. CHADWICK can be found than in the lives of the five children she gave to the world – all of whom are an honor to her name and a blessing to the state. They are as follows: Mrs. J. W. RADNEY, Roanoke; Mrs. Mamie ELLIS, Birmingham; Rev. J. S. CHADWICK, assistant editor of the Nashville Christian Advocate; Mrs. George STOVES, Anniston; Mr. R. E. CHADWICK, cashier of the Bank of Ensley. ------------------------------------------------------------- AN APPRECIATION ---------------------------- Dear Mrs. RADNEY: Works are inadequate to express the sympathy of your friends, the Philathea class, in this, your greatest sorrow, in the loss of Mother. Mrs. CHADWICK, as a precious friend and a community favorite, has wended her way through the “pearly gate;” she is there happy and care-free. She is there with jewels in her crown. Let us meet her in that home. Lovingly, Mrs. TATUM, Irma SCHUESSLER, Mary W.
