J. RAGLAND [11 Jul 1862--10 Feb 1917] was taken to Atlanta for an operation upon the skull to relieve a dangerous pressure resulting from an old wound. The operation was performed Thursday, but death overtook the unfortunate man Saturday evening. His remains were brought to Roanoke, his late home, Monday afternoon, and were met by the Red Men [fraternal organization] and others. Tuesday [13 Feb 1917] at 2:30 the funeral services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. R. E. TYLER. At the [Cedarwood] cemetery the order of Red Men were in charge. Mr. RAGLAND had many friends throughout this section. He was a great lover of music and was a fine singer. --------------------------- ADDITIONAL LOCALS --------------------------- The following relatives of the late Mr. J. J. RAGLAND were called here first of the week to attend the latter’s funeral: M. H. RAGLAND, of Birmingham, a son; Mrs. A. C.
