WEATHERS DIED MARCH 28 ---------------------------- John Leonard WEATHERS died at his home in this place [Roanoke] as another Sabbath was ushered in, March 28th. He had lived 75 years, four months and four days, and in this long life he had rendered devoted service to his family, his church and his country. He was an official member of the Church of the Disciples and was a faithful attendant. Mr. WEATHERS was a member of one of this county’s oldest and most honored families, in which were twelve children, all living to a good age. It was 73 years from the time of the establishment of this home before a death occurred. Eight children have died. Those living are Messrs. B. F., J. A. and J. B. WEATHERS and Mrs. Sarah GLADNEY. All were present at the funeral held here except Mrs. GLADNEY, who resides in Lineville. The father and mother lived to be quite old, but not long enough to see one of their children die. Five of the sons were in the Confederate army, but not one of them was injured. Simple but touching services were held in memory of Mr. WEATHERS at his late home in this city at four p.m. Sunday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. P. HODGES, assisted by Brothers HINES and ABERNETHY. The remains were carried Monday morning to Anniston, former home of the deceased, and interred, after brief services at the grave. Besides members of the family there went from this place Rev. and Mrs. A. P. HODGES, Messrs. W. F. USSERY, R. E. TAYLOR, Willie CALDWELL and Homer SLAUGHTER, Mrs. Belt WHITE and Miss Mamie CALDWELL.
