SWINT DEAD ---------------------------- Prof.[essor] Joseph SWINT died yesterday afternoon in this place, after an illness of a couple of weeks. He was 84 years of age and was formerly a school teacher and surveyor. His children are Mr. Lump SWINT and Mrs. J. C. BURGESS. The interment was at Cedarwood cemetery at 10 o’clock this morning. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 29 September 1915, p.1] ---------- Joseph SWINT, Abt 1830/1831—28 September 1915. There is no marked grave for Joseph SWINT in Cedarwood Cemetery. However, he is possibly interred in one of the two unmarked adult graves in the plot next to his daughter’s plot. Mary SWINT BURGESS, 8 May 1868—12 March 1931, his daughter, John C. BURGESS, 29 May 1868—16 December 1935, his son-in-law, Erlou BURGESS, 12 May 1892—10 December 1926, his granddaughter, All interred in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama.
