Mrs. Annie Lou Kirby, 96, of Grand Saline, Tex., died Thursday, October 11, 1984, in a Grand Saline nursing home after a long illness. She was born in West Point, Ga., but, after living for a short time in Randolph County, Ala. spent the greater part of her life in the Grand Saline area. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fruitvale. Her husband, James Robert Kirby, who preceded her in death, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Kirby of Randolph County. Survivors include three sons, J. H. Kirby of Grand Saline, William Leroy Kirby of Pikesville, Ky., and David Rudolph Kirby of Dallas, Tex.; six daughters, Laverne Fowler of Fruitvale, Tex., Wanda Reid of Nacadoches, Tex., Elsie Davis of Yuba City, Calif., Gladsie Pearce of Edgewood, Tex., and Fannie Mae Shields and Annie Sawyer, both of Canton Tex.; and 29 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 38 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Kirby were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, October 14, at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton, the Rev. A. L. Cates officiating, assisted by the Rev. Terry D. Cooper.
