OBITUARIES:

GARFIELD KIRBY

   (Roanoke) Garfield Kirby, age 70, of Rt. 3 Roanoke, died Tuesday Nov. 1, 
1983, at Randolph County Hospital, Roanoke, after an extended illness.
   Mr. Kirby was a lifelong resident of Randolph County, a farmer, and a member 
of Taylor's Crossroads Church of Christ.
   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie Spears Kirby of Roanoke; one 
daughter, Mrs. Ruth Kuykendall of Fort Payne; one son, Calvin Kirby of Roanoke; 
one brother Curtis Kirby of Escondido, Calif.; and four grandchildren and one 
great-grandchild.
   Funeral services for Mr. Kirby were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock 
at Friendship Christian Church, with Bro. Leon Kirby and the Rev. Vernon Willis 
officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.
   Pallbearers were James Daniel, Bobby Kirby, Richard Kirby, James Kirby, 
Leonard Kuykendall, and Barrett Shelnutt.
   Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
