OBITUARIES:

GEORGE KIRBY

   (Lanett) George Kirby, age 72, of Lanett, died in Lanett Geriatric Center at 
11:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 1983.
   Mr. Kirby, a retired employee of Lanett Mill and a member of Plant City 
United Methodist Church, was a native of Randolph County.
   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Earline Kirby; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Sykes 
of Opelika; a son, Jerry Kirby of Cusseta, Ala.; four grandchildren; four 
sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Ferrell, Mrs. Erma Parrish and Mrs. Pauline Watson, all of 
Roanoke,  and Mrs. Willie B. Huddleston of Seale; and three brothers, David 
Kirby and Perry Kirby of Rock Mills and Okley Kirby of Lanett.
   Funeral services for Mr. Kirby were conducted at 11 o'clock Thursday morning 
at Johnson Brown-Service Chapel, the Rev. Perry Duffy and the Rev. Gerald Sykes 
officiating, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
   Johnson Brown-Service of Valley in charge of arrangements.
