OBITUARIES

Mrs. Gertrude N. Kirby

   (Wedowee) Mrs. Gertrude N. Kirby, age 83, of Wedowee, died Tuesday, June 28, 
1983, at Wedowee Hospital after an extended illness.
   Mrs. Kirby was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and a member of 
Providence Baptist Church.
   She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth K. Sanders of Atlanta; six sons, 
Lawrence J. Kirby of Littleton, Colo., Robert E. Kirby of Memphis, Tenn., Dr. 
Thomas W. Kirby of McCalla, Charlie R. Kirby of Roanoke, Kelly M. Kirby of 
Birmingham, and Fred S. Kirby of Decatur, Ga.; two (three) sisters, Mrs. Marvin 
Daniel of Woodland, Mrs. Essie Young of Atlanta, and Mrs. Renice Spratlin of 
Eva; five brothers, Clint Fincher and O'Neal Fincher, both of Woodland, Gaines 
Fincher of Lanett, Edward Fincher of Atlanta, and LeRoy Fincher of Warner 
Robins, Ga.; and 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services for Mrs. Kirby will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 
at Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Daniel and the Rev. Don 
Paulson officiating.  Burial is in the church cemetery.
   Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Kirby.
   Mrs. Kirby will lie in state at Benefield Funeral Home after 10:00 a.m. 
Wednesday, June 29, until service time.
   Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
