Joseph Daniel Kirby] Rev. Joseph Daniel Kirby passed at home here Sunday, January 14, 1951. Rev. Joseph Daniel Kirby, born August 17, 1865, came to the end of his earthly journey on Sunday morning, at 4:15 o'clock, January 14, at the age of 85. Rev.Kirby, better known to many of his friends as "Uncle Dan" had been in declining health for a number of years, but was always jolly and enjoyed the fellowship of his friends. He was confined to his room for a period of seventeen days. He was born in Alabama, where he lived his entire life, and for the past 17 years he had made his home in Wedowee. In 1935 he was ordained to preach in the Primitive Baptist Church. For him, integrity was the base of all thought and action, with kindess and sincerity. "Uncle Dan" will be missed and his going is a great loss to his family, to his community and to his county, but he will not and cannot be forgotten. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Phebe Kirby, of Wedowee; three daughters, Mrs. Alene Keeble, Mrs.Jess Keeble, Lagrange,and Mrs.Mae Blackmon, Roanoke; five sons George Kirby,Wedowee,Route 2,Mr.Dock Kirby,Rock Mills,Rev.T.J.Kirby, Woodland,Mr.Henry Kirby, Woodland,and Mr.Merle Kirby, Wedowee; thirty-five grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Springfield Baptist Church Monday afternoon, January 15 at 2 o'clock. The officiating minister was Rev. J.W. Harmon of Fairfax, assisted by Rev. C.H. Bobo, Rev. W.W. Lankford and Rev. J.T. Spears, of Wedowee. Interment was in the churchyard cemetery with Quattle-Baum's Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers were grandsons,James Ray Kirby,Hugh Kirby,Jerry Kirby,Wilford Keeble, Fred Kirby,Jack Almon,Donald Kirby and J.W.Brewer. __________ Additional Comments: [“Rev.
