OBITUARIES:

Lavara Kirby

   (Roanoke) Mrs. Lavara Kirby, age 85, of Rt. 3 Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 
27, 1987 at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke.
   Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Sue Tennant of Roanoke; one son, Oliver 
F. Kirby of LaGrange, GA; one sister, Mrs. Cora Brumbeloe of Roanoke; seven 
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services for Mrs. Kirby were Thursday, May 28 at 4 p.m. at White's 
Chapel Methodist Church.  Burial was in the church cemetery
   The Rev. Sammy Hayes and the Rev. Ricky Emery officiated.
   Pallbearers were Bob Kirby, Bill Kirby, Frank Kirby, Terry Davidson, Johnny 
Tennant, and Bill Tennant.
   Quattlebaum's Brown-Service Funeral Home of Roanoke was in charge of the 
arrangements.

Additional Comments:
[Lavara is the daughter of William David Kirby and Martha Jane Johnson.  She 
was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Elton Kirby in 1985.]
